I love bientot l'ete, don't get me wrong, but when I got to play chess with a human or simulator I can only say one or two things and then my options go away.

What gives? I'd love a solution. BTW I have all the pieces and the special item. I'm just not sure how to get around this dialogue problem (if that's what it is).

Thank You,
BlackBeach

I think you have to go walk on the beach near the water to "learn" new phrases. They come to you from time to time.

I've walked the beach from side to side, until I see the opposite image. I have multiple phrases in the sand too.

I'll give it a try - maybe I have to right click and look at the phrases or something.

It seems you were right, but now it appears that I have lost some progress in the "game". I no longer have the special item or even some of my chess pieces.

Not a big deal - I like the experience, but still an unwanted hick-up in my gameplay.

I have experienced this too. After having collected all pieces and the gun, after a while I was missing some pieces and the gun was no longer there. I had to recollect everything again. I do not know what caused this. It coincided with the first times I was able to connect with other people rather than just play the simulation.
