Sorry to bump up this thread, but I just wanted to comment on the game after being done with it.
As great as a loose remake of Tomb Raider 1 can be, I think the developers could have done much better. The controls were configured in such a way that in order to beat a boss, one had to push a set of buttons quickly and rapidly switch to another button. Also, the game developers seemed to use a series of trapped jumps in lieu of inventive puzzles for the gamer to solve. The levels were way too short for me as well. In the original, the controls were simple. This allowed the game developers to do more with the levels. The levels were gigantic, and I really felt that I could really explore. The current game seems more like an obstacle course on American Gladiators.
I just got tired of the game and watched the ending cut scenes on Youtube.
In short, I echo everything said in this thread. However, I did enjoy the feeling of nostalgia when I came upon familiar places. |

I find it hard to bring myself to continue this research project. I love getting back to Tomb Raider 1 but the thought of having to hurl the monkey called Lara Croft in Anniversary through virtual space as she painfully clings to ledges and falls to her deaths repeatedly is too painful too bear, however much I'd like to revisit those places. |
