We have made new website for The Path, including the teaser that we're going to show at the Game Developers Conference next week.

Have a look! Smile

Thank you. It's inspired by this other great peaceful game... Wink

Don't get your hopes up (or do, depending on your persuasion): it's just there for contrast! Twisted Evil

Very Happy It looks really awesome... sort of like EF + Ico + something frightening! You know, I might have to revise my avoidance of scary things for this. Razz

Yay!

Fairy tales, and especially twisted fairy tales, are one of my all time favorite things. This is the only game I've ever eagerly awaited. Seriously.

*wait wait wait*

(is it 2008 yet?)

Haha. Thank you.

Actually, historically, the versions of the fairy tales by Grimm and Disney are the twisted ones. They twisted the old tales into something nice and "suitable for children". We tend to go back to the roots of the stories. Where Red Ridinghood eats parts of her grandmother and drinks her blood. And where the story ends when Red dies, with no heroic hunter man to save her.

I told my friend about the oldest French one and she was like "what, a pervert wolf?" I really freaked her out with that. Smile

Anyway. The trailer scares me. I want to play it even more now.

BAGSY PATH OF PINS.

I know about the path of needles...blarghoo sex...

The path is indeed a safe area. If you follow it, you will end up in grandmother's place. Easy. But boring. The forest is dangerous. But much more interesting.
You will not be doing any killing in the game. It's more psychological than action-packed. Which doesn't mean you will survive... Twisted Evil

I'm curious, if you followed the Path from start to finish with no diversions, about how long would it take (in the final game)? Surprised

I'm guessing about five minutes. (we don't call it a short game for nothing Wink )
It's our way of "punishing" goal-oriented play. Evil or Very Mad

It'll be a download game, right?

I imagine it'll be a lot harder producing the finished project if it's a physical thing...

Yes, initially it will be distributed digitally, via the internet. Later perhaps on a CD in a box, via retail shops. That's not so hard but financially not so interesting for us because the publishers, retailers and distributors take a very big cut of the revenue. Which means we would need to sell a lot more copies, which means we would have to make a more commercial product.
Online we can get 50-50 deals from distributors. And if you buy it from our own website directly, all the money goes to us. And via us into our other projects, The Endless Forest, etc.
