Q: I am getting very bad lag and the game is running slow. How can I fix this?
A: You may be able to improve the framerate by turning on Simple shadows (or turning off shadows all together), turning off Blinking and setting the character detail to "Very low".

Where can i find those settings? >.<

You'll find them in the menu (hit escape, or click the circle in the bottom-left corner), under "Display".

A: Go to the Start Menu and select "Run...". Then type dxdiag and enter. Then wait a bit. A diagonostics tool for DirectX will open with information about your system. Check the Display section. The date of your drivers should be there. If they are old, check the website of the manufacturer to find newer ones.

Tried this, but to no avail. I previously had a driver from 2003, so I went to the Nvidia website and downloaded what it told me was the most recent driver, which ended up being one from 2006. That's pretty old too, right? Can anyone direct me to the MOST recent Nvidia driver? Because this one didn't help, at all.

Or, you know, I could be way off and maybe Nvidia has nothing to do with it. I'm such a pathetic little puppy when it comes to these complicated things... help?
I've never had to deal with this until I tried downloading TEF on my home computer (I have it downloaded fine on my laptop.)

Thanks for responding! Smile

And yes, I did. I let it scan my computer for the most recent driver, and then downloaded it. After, I tried installing TEF (once again) but when I tried playing it, I again got that white box and it said
"ForestViewer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

So I got it to scan my computer again just now, and it said that I have the most recent driver installed.
Er... Confusing. Confused

And you still have a driver from 2006?
Is this a desktop or a laptop computer?
If you have a desktop and an old driver, I'd recommend to just download the latest driver for your videocard manually (without some robot checking) and install it yourself and make sure it's really a recent one.

I'm back! After about four months, haha. I had tried again and just given up after a while. School got in the way, too. But now I'm facing the same problem again.
My computer is a desktop, and it's about nine years old. It's a Windows XP.

Now, how do I know which driver is correct for my videocard? Nvidia gives me a ton of options. I did the whole "dxdiag" process and found out which driver I have currently, which is GeForce2 MX/MX 400. So does this give me the option to download any driver under the name "GeForce" or...?

I have Vista and got that error at first. It's because Windows Firewall was blocking the program.

Close the game, go to Control Panel, Windows Firewall, Change Settings, Exceptions tab and check the box next to Forestviewer, click OK.

I doubt if that card can run The Endless Forest. Sad
And I doubt if nVidia updated the drivers for it. It's a bit old.
