Wildbluesun: To tell the truth, I'm not too fond of Grey to Green either... I just need something, for now, you know?

*rethink* Actually, here's a list right now of titles I've thought of, in no particular order:

Arrow Replant
Arrow Terragreen (I like this)
Arrow Neergarret (the above backwards, but it actually sounds pretty cool!)
Arrow just plain 'Green'
Arrow Grey to Green
Arrow An Emerald For A Seedling (My idea here was that, really, a plant has so much more worth than an emerald; Especially for the dead planet in my game. A life compared to money. It's kind of long, though... Hmm. AEFAS...?)

So, tell me what you all think and throw in your suggestions!

Vrav: Ah... Thank you, but Construct is Windows only Smile .
*random* Quest3D would have been superb for this game, but of course that's Windows-only as well. Oh well, I guess.

I quite like Terragreen as well. Genesis or Creation Myth might also work well. I mean, you're in effect creating a planet, right?

Abiogenesis would be an AWESOME name, as "abiogenesis" is the spontaneous generation of living matter, but I wouldn't use that if I were you, for obvious reasons. Wink

Every time I see a picture of the fox, I think of the name 'Yellow-Jacket'*. Though I suggest keeping him/her anonymous, I think I'm going to nickname him/her it. C:

Though at the moment I can't think of any good names, here are some to come to mind:

  • Grow (or alternatively it could be 'Growth')
  • Eden (though I'm a little hesitant with that one)
  • Dust
  • Perennial (though that word means a plant with a lifespan of only two years, I like how it sounds)
  • Denizen (it means anything adapted to a new place, condition, etc., as an animal or plant not indigenous to a place but successfully naturalized.)
  • Seed

*OMFG BEES

Or Corolla - the collective name for the petals of a flower.

I once played a very nice webgame called Grow. ^^

Trinket: Oh oh I LOVE bumblebees! They're so cute and fuzzy. I like to pet them, they don't mind at all. They're so soft! <3333
But wasps scare me. With those dangly legs and supa thin waists. O_O;

Nickname your fox whatever you want. :)
Anyway! Back to the name stuff.

Perennial sounds nice. Is it only two years? I thought it was much longer than that.
Whenever I see the word 'Denizen', I keep getting reminded of the beings in Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom series. So... Um. Yeah. ^^;
Dust? Like the Dust in Lyra's world? :D
Thanks for the ideas, though!

Wildbluesun: The name Abiogenesis is GENIUS, I tell you. And I cringe at the thought of using it for myself! :)
Ah, I like Corolla. Hmm... Allright, my top two are Terragreen and Corolla. As the game progresses I guess I'll decide, or think of something perfect. ;)
I actually may nickname my fox Corolla... It sounds pretty.

I don't want to use Grow because there's a whole series of webgames (you probably played one of them, WBS) collectively under that title. http://www.eyezmaze.com/

NAKED FOX! =O

Cover your eyes, people!

I played most of the Grow webgames, but spent most time with v3. I tend to count them all as one because they felt so similar.

Also, have you made anything new?

My poor advice would be (if you're really serious) to set aside half an hour or so a day for your game, to just work, without distraction or interruption, on it, no excuses. If you miss a day, do an hour the next.

Or half an hour every other day, or ten minutes a day, or one model a day, or whatever.

It's how I write, and tends to get things done in time. =)

2D Prototype!
Just a simple little thing.
Clicky.
Unfortunately, uploading it makes it all wonky. Confused Tried to fix it, but blah.
The ground went lower, so the plants and the character are floating, and there's a bit on the edge that looks like a cliff that's not supposed to be there. Sigh.
But anyway. Left and right arrow keys to move, down to sit, up to stand up again. Mouse over the button with a seed to plant either a vine-thing or a patch of grass. Click the Reset button to clear all plants and start again.
There is a limit to the number of plants you can plant, you'll know when you reach it. Smile Have fun!

The buttons are the basic idea I want in the real thing (except the Reset button, there won't be one of those), a no-words interface (which I think is great), like TEF.

Occasionally, a plant stops growing before it reaches its full growth. Not sure why this happens, but it does make it more natural.

Well, I can see you approve, Trinket. Smile
Did the wonkiness affect you at all?

Though the prototype is a rather large update, at least to me, it seems few have noticed...

I noticed, typed something long up, pressed the wrong button, and killed it all. x.X

Haven't been able to motivate myself to re-write it...

But I do remember thinking that it was AWESOME.

It seemed good to me. I assume walking animations will be added later so all is good. :3

P.S. Is there going to be plant restrictions in the final game?

I'd love to see this as a game, I would play it!

Maybe as time goes on or if you have a certain amount of flowers/plants other creatures like your fox character there come and build a villlage were you could buy more seeds or different coloured cloaks so you could personalize your character a little.

Or you could buy a pouch that makes you able to hold more seeds?
